C-type lectins in Development and Defense

C-type lectins form a group of cell surface and secreted proteins, which are relevant in development and defense. We identified several lectins, which are upregulated during the induction of the heat-shock response and the innate immune response, but their function is entirely unknown. We aim at using bioinformatics tools on the huge family of C-type lectins and biochemical assays to derive ligand information and functional properties.
